With our Stitch a Map cross stitch patterns you can create a map for any country of the world. The minimalistic cross stitch designs only include the boarder of the country map. This makes them quick to stitch and very inviting to fill with your favourite DMC floss colors, in different cross stitch filling patterns.

We used filling stitches on our world map cross stitch pattern to show in which countries people are stitching our designs. It is so humbling to see people all over the world are stitching with us.  The Stitch a Map series also contains pattterns for the states of the USA, the provinces and terratories of Canada and for provinces of the Netherlands. Our customers fill them to show where they have been, where their loved ones are, or where they have fallen in love.

In this post we will share 10 free filling cross stitch stitch patterns which are perfect for our Map patterns.

Bonus tips

Add a sparkle effect to your cross stitch filling pattern

Do you like your cross stitch map to stand out even more? Fill them with sparkling embroidery floss! Choose from our DMC Etoile or DMC metallic floss and the map will start reflecting light. DMC Etoile gives a more subtle twinkle rather then the bling bling from a DMC metallic floss . For both floss types we recommend that use some bees wax to smoothen your floss.

You can also add sparkle by stitching the world map on a iridescent cross stitch fabric. This is fabric with a metallic thread woven into the fabric, which will reflect the light just like mettalic embroidery floss. Learn more about different cross stitch fabrics here in our blog.
