Description

In this 5-week course you will experiment with all kinds of textile techniques. Our studio is jam packed will all kinds of lovely materials. We have a big assortment of embroidery threads, fabrics, punch needle supplies, felting supplies, Sashiko supplies, weaving supplies, rug making supplies and more. During this course we’ll open another cabinet every week. Perfect for those of you that like to play with different materials. One week we could be diving into mastering an embroidery stitch with a metallic thread, the next week we might focus on working with a specific color pallet and applying it in all kinds of materials.

This will be your weekly moment to unwind. Enjoy meeting new people while creating something pretty and learning new skills.

You influence what we’ll do!

The exact content of the sessions is still a secret. You can influence what we’ll do. Every participants get’s the option to provide two “ingredients” for the soup. Browse our website and check our collection of supplies. Then send us (at least one week before we start the course) an e-mail with:

  • 1 material or 1 tool from our collection you would like to work with in the class
  • 1 textile technique or 1 color pallette (e.g. blues, primary colors, or nature) or 1 art style (modern, impressionists etc.) or 1 artist

We will put all the suggestions in a pot and randomly select two ideas to combine during each class. There is no guarantee that your idea is selected, but the chances are high :-).

What you’ll learn in this course

  • During this course you will learn something different every session.
  • The pictures that you see with this listing give you an idea of what we’ve done in other workshops. But, as described above, you can influence what we’ll cover during this course.

Materials:

  • For each session we will have a selection of materials ready for you to use during the workshop.
  • If you’d like to continue practising at home, you’re welcome to buy extra supplies in the studio.

Catering:

  • You’ll get free coffee, tea, and water
  • And we’ll have a few yummy snacks

Location:

Studio Koekoek, Weesperstraat 100 in Amsterdam.

This is close to the “Magere Brug” and the “Holocaust Name Monument” in the centre of Amsterdam. Metro station Weesperplein or Waterlooplein.

Skill level

The sessions are suitable for beginners, but it is also full of inspiration for more experienced textile artist.

Language

We’ll host the workshop in both Dutch and English

About Studio Koekoek’s workshop

We love to welcome you in our studio in Amsterdam. We’re working every day with textiles and like to share our enthusiasm with you. You’ll learn in small groups, so you’ll get lots of help with questions.

Minimal number of participants = 4.

Max. number of participants = 9.

Workshop cancellation policy

In the unfortunate event that you cannot join your booked event, you are welcome to resell or give your ticket to somebody else who is able to attend. If you wish to cancel your ticket, we adhere to the following policy:

  • Cancellations made more than 1 month before the first day of the course receive a full refund.
  • Cancellations made between 14 and 31 days before the first day of the course receive a 50% refund.
  • Cancellations made less than 14 days first day of the course are not refunded.
  • No-shows are not refunded.
