BOOK BEFORE 10 DECEMBER 2024 WITH 100 EURO EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT
This is a master program of 6 weeks in which we seriously study the interaction of colors in your textile work. We work with artist teacher Loret Karman from the Amsterdamse Steek to deliver this unique program.
Have you ever selected colors for your project, and it looked like they would work well together, but once applied the result was disappointing? Many textile enthusiasts have experienced that. After this master class course you have the tools to prevent this.
To focus as much as possible on the interaction of color during this master’s program, we remove as many technical obstacles as possible and mainly work in cross stitches with
DMC embroidery floss. During the last sessions we start exploring other threads, fibres and stitches to study how fibre, structure, and stitch influence how you experience colors.
At home you can apply your learnings to any textile technique, from crochet to quilting, sewing and knitting. We encourage you to bring your ‘home work’ to the next class so can help you develop your own direction.
At the start of the program you will receive a large material kit worth €50 to have lots of supplies for your experiments. In our studio we have access to the full color palette of DMC, your material kit will contain a carefully curated selection.
We approach these 6 weeks studiously. Various color theories that influence textile work are discussed. In addition there is room for your own research. We work with fast
sketching methods in cross stitch. Embroidery is a slow technique and you certainly won’t complete all the experiments offered during the sessions, but you’ll go home with a lot of inspiration to continue your study at home.
About your teachers
Loret Karman brings decades of experience studying colors in textiles. She has helped numerous textile artists to help find the right colour palletes for their work of art. She was hired by the Van Gogh Museum to recreate the yarn box which Vincent used as an artist. She made a full color wheel of the 500 colors in the DMC embroidery floss collection. And in unique collaboration with our studio, we developed this exclusive master class program. You have a unique opportunity to learn from Loret Karman when you join this master class course.
And you can directly put your learning’s in action as Gerda from Studio Koekoek will learn you different embroidery stitches, tips and tricks. Gerda is the creative soul behind Studio Koekoek. She works daily with textiles, and loves to share her stitching skills.
